At Oklahoma GOP convention on May 12, 2012 I met up w/ Jimmy McMillan: “the rent is too damn high” man & asked him about his previously announced candidacy for president. He responded that he’s a registered republican but that he will run in the democrat party. The reasoning he gave was a bit confusing to me.
I asked if he’s registered republican in Oklahoma. He said he was not, but he didn’t say where. In corner of my eye, I noticed a man was touching him as though it was a que for him to stop talking. But I kept plugging in questions until I was nudged to move alone & I saw the deputy sheriff headed my way … and …… I moved along..
Location of this interview was at Embassy Suites in Norman, Oklahoma.
Steve Harrison Runs for Mayor of McAlester, OK speaking at Kiamichi Center on 2/7/2012
(R-OK) Steve Harrison, sitting councilman is running for Mayor of McAlester, Oklahoma. He feels council members should at least make a good impression while sitting on bench at meetings for the sake of public appearance. He said his rival John Brown (another councilman) shows up wearing shorts. But when Harrison shows up to city council, he dresses up in suit & tie.
Harrison also answered questions about the McAlester landfill that the council had previously imposed a restriction on its use. Harrison explained that the landfill was full & that the city had to comply w/DEQ rules.
About the matter of McAlester council passing city law that conflicted w/state law in regulating the sale of over the counter cold medicine, Harrison said that the city council rescinded their ruling after its passing due to ruling from Oklahoma Attorney General. The initial reason given by the council in trying to regulate the cold medicine was to clamp down on meth labs. But Oklahoma attorney general Pruitt said towns can’t regulate sale of cold pills.
Steve Harrison, who is a republican, is currently a city councilman for ward 2 McAlester, OK. He seeks to win the office of Mayor, as the outgoing mayor – Kevin Priddle, is retiring. John Browne, a democrat is also running for mayor.
Election for the mayor race is super Tuesday – March 6, 2012.
Tonite, driving from Walmart getting on to George Nigh Exwy, I spotted a Ron Paul sign. It was the ONLY political sign in the whole area.. just sitting out there all by it’s lonesome.
Before any Ron Paul supporters start jumping my bones, I want to say that I ain’t got nothing against Ron Paul & in fact I like the guy.. But a Ron Paul sign in these neck of the woods is highly unusual. I didn’t think Ron Paul was even on the radar out here. In McAlester, OK (or surrounding area of District 2) most Republicans I talk to would say they support Santorum or Romney. But Ron Paul ?????? This is a first. I need to find out what the hell is going on. I’m call up Pittsburg GOP to find out if Paul has a headquarters out here.
Oklahoma Republican female voter reveals who she may vote for in Oklahoma’s 2nd US Congressional & Presidential election 2012. She’s leaning Dakota Woods & Markwayne Mullin for US congress; but since she had not seen all of the GOP candidates she said she could change her mind. But she did say that her liking for Mullin & Woods was because they seemed strong & forceful.
Voter says she prefers Rick Santorum for President, but since he’s unlikely to win GOP nomination, she said she’d probably vote for Mitt Romney. When asked about Newt, the voter strongly replied he was dirty, a big government progressive & lack morals & character. However, voter felt Mitt was not that conservative, but that she would chose him over Newt based on morals & character.
This interview was on January 31, 2012 in McAlester, OK at a GOP event held at Angel’s Diner.
I plan to do more video polling of Republican voters at forthcoming Oklahoma GOP events so as to get a feel for how GOP voters are leaning.
At Oklahoma GOP event, republicans introduced to GOP Larry Boggs who’s running for Oklahoma State Senate seat 7th district. Democrat State Senator Richard Lerblance is bowing out of forthcoming election, so Oklahoma republicans in the 7th district appear to be backing GOP Larry Boggs to win that seat. BTW, there’s rumor that District 7 has been remapped to include parts of Hughes County.
Sometimes Oklahoma rural folks feel alienated & ignored by the urban state senators. It’s like Oklahoma urban senators give better treatment & a willing ear to the concerns of the folks who live in Oklahoma City, but forsake the rural folks who are all but forgotten, and have to accept the left-overs or nothing at all. The fix to this social disparagement is the root of Larry Boggs’ platform.
This GOP event was held in McAlester, OK on January 31, 2012 at Angels Diner (conference meeting room). Larry Boggs was introduced to the republican crowd by Oklahoma GOP State Senator Josh Brecheen.
At this Rural Water District meeting, the directors said that contractors were not working, but I heard them vote to pay them anyway.
I understand that a lot of this money the rural water district got came from Federal & State. So if the contractors are not working, then why would the board vote to pay them? Is this an example of government waste?
This Hughes County Rural Water District 2 regular meeting was held by it’s directors on January 16, 2012 in Stuart, Oklahoma at the Senior Citizen Center.
The following is video taken on July 25, 2011 where an Oklahoma state representative Brian Renegar spoke to the town’s citizens about this Rural Water district would be getting government money.
At a January 26, 2012 annual meeting of Hughes County Rural Water District #2 in Stuart Oklahoma, the minutes of 2011 annual meeting that was read by Secretary/Treasurer Janet Frederick were disputed by water customer (member). After this dispute, membership voted not to approve those minutes until the board of directors produced the handwritten minutes for the membership to review. The member disputed the legality of the election of the water district’s chairman – Jim Wilson in reference to term of office. Secretary of the rural water district read minutes of 2011 annual meeting that mentioned that Jim Wilson was re-elected at a 2011 annual meeting.
Another member – Ronda Talley, at the January 26, 2012 meeting made motion to not approve the 2011 annual meeting minutes. The motion overwhelming carried to not approve those minutes.
Prior to this January 2012 annual meeting, most of the board of directors told the membership that they did not know when their term of office expired. Many water customers in this water district had been questioning the legality of the term of office and elections of the district’s board of directors that the board claims to had occurred at an alleged prior meeting.
Oklahoma’s George Faught, US Congress republican candidate for 2012 election, explains hows to persuade democrat politicians.
For me, its hard to figure out what’s in the mind of politicians when they interact with their constituents. So Faught explains & illustrates how constituents should approach their politician (especially democrats). What he basically said was that (as a republican) don’t let the democrat politician see you as the enemy. Interestingly, Faught raise bees as a hobby. In reference to the bees Faught raises, he said why would you do something for the things that would sting or hurt you.
My personal take: When George Faught brought up the “bees” story / analogy, it moreso convinced me that he is a mild tempered politician w/a bed side manner like a doctor & may be great at conflict resolution. He seems comfortable w/himself, soothing & can definitely talk unscripted w/out notes or teleprompter. He seemed tangible; & his talks were more “fire-side or round table” that puts audience at ease. He was also witty & has sense of humor. I don’t want my readers to think Im biased or giving endorsement. I’m just giving my honest opinion about George Faught’s personality that I find noteworthy.
Now don’t get me wrong, Faught is no attack dog like Allen West or Joe Walsh. It would be great to have all three. I do know what Allen West & Walsh would do if they had a sting bee like Nancy Pelosi; BUT the question is how would Faught handle such a bee?
George Faught spoke at Pittsburg County Republican Womens meeting in McAlester, OK on July 28, 2011. Meeting was held at Angels Diner. Currently, the US congress seat in Oklahoma district 2 is held by democrat Dan Boren who will not seek re-election. Therefore, its open season on this seat for republicans to pick up. What makes this election for this seat so special is that District 2 is the only district in the entire state of Oklahoma that is democrat.
At a chaotic Rural Water District # 2 meeting, a resident said that the water operator told him that he was advised that anyone with livestock to shut their water meter off. Another resident told board members that it would be cold day in hell before they shut water off to his livestock. Rural Water district manager, Vivian Moody replied “.. what’s more important? people’s lives or their livestock?
Part of the problem is that residents mostly in Stuart, Oklahoma are not getting any water or water that comes out to a trickle. Some of them wanted to know that if they are not getting water, if they have to pay the water bill. Board member replied yes. Residents complained that when they turn on water, air pressure causes the meter to register & that they are getting charged for it.
Also at this meeting, it was revealed that Rural Water District 2 (RWD #2) has only 2 guys working in the field. RWD # 2 chairman acknowledged that the money spent on chemicals is going down the drain.
Another resident complained that it took RWD #2 six months to fix water leak.
Vivian Moody started complaining about Oklahoma DEQ because it was inspecting her Water District which she felt had deprived her of putting the maintenance guys to work.
This Rural Water District meeting was held at the Senior Citizens Center in Stuart, Oklahoma on July 18, 2011. Approximately 60 people attended.
