Veteran at Townhall Tells Dem. Congressman: “Give Me Liberty OR Give Me Death”

When duty calls our brave men and women again are on the ready to serve. Our Veterans – defenders of freedom – are stepping up to the plate at these town hall meetings.

A veteran at a townhall meeting in Mcalester, Oklahoma on 8/18/2009 informs congressman Dan Boren (D-OK) that he personally knows the cost of freedom from his 2 combat tours in Vietnam as crew chief on a MediVac helicopter. He tells Boren that he’s not sure he will vote for him again. The veteran voiced concerns of government intrusion into our homes and lives. “The Sleeping Giant Has Arose”, he added. He demanded a firm commitment from Congressman Boren that he will fight these intrusion on our life styles & wants a watchful eye on these politicians; & that as for him he told Boren: “You Give Me Liberty or You Give Me Death”.

Congressman Boren’s response indicated the pressures he gets from D.C., which left the impression that he may lack the backbone to stand up to the pressures of the democratic party. He said that things happens so quickly in the legislative process. He indicated that when “they” (the democrats) throw a bill on the floor, he’s pressured to vote “yes” or “no”; and that he just cant vote “No”. Someone in the audience shouted: “If you dont read it Vote NO”.

Below is an excerpt of Dan Boren’s response to the Vietnam veteran.

This 2 hr. townhall meetings was held on 8/18/2009 at the Arch Auditorium in McAlester, OK. The hall are nearly full. Approximately 16 people asked questions. 6 of the folks identified themselves as veterans.

And NOT a single time to any of the 6 veterans did Dan Boren say: “thank you for your service”

Dan Boren declares himself as a blue dog democrat. He serves the U.S. 2nd congressional district of Oklahoma.

    1. Tellit,
This congressman is really skating on thin ice. I’m not really familiar w/him, but from what I heard at the townhall meeting, the folks in his district don’t like it when he agrees w/the Obama admin.

He’s the only democrat U.S. Congressman for the state of Oklahoma. Many say that he’s riding on the shirt tail of his daddy & that he aint got no guts.

But this time around, the olks in this district who habitually vote democrat have voted against Obama in the presidential election, as they preferred Hillary. But when Obama won the democrat nomination, the democrats in the area voted for McCain. So this clearly sends a signal that Dan Boren may not get re-elected in 2010.

Folks around here are hard working & conservative minded. And they just simply don’t like Obama.

      1. For me this is a relatively easy question, but has a pretty complex answer. The specialty I have actually looked forward to working with is OB/GYN. I find that the ability of a woman’s body to produce a child, endure the amount of abuse it takes during a pregnancy, and the amount of pain endured during delivery is amazing. The joy of being able to be present as life enters the world is truly one of the greatest moments in life. To me that would be the best possible option. I also would love working in the operating room with a surgeon. I have experienced the OR quite a few times, and have been on both “sides” of the table. I have to say I would love to work with any surgeon in the OR except for Orthopedics. The reason behind that is the surgery’s are pretty brutal when it comes to the skeletal system. Having been in the OR with an Orthopedic surgeon and seeing the use of the saws, hammers and other heavy equipment in order to perform the surgery just sends chills up my spine. I know that type of surgery is not for me. I think my favorite surgeries have to be that of the abdominal cavity. The specialties that I would least like to work for are few, and for simple reasons. Pediatrics is not a specialty for me since I have four children of my own. My Aunt is a neonatal nurse practitioner and I followed her in high school and saw the good, the bad, and the ugly so I can honestly say I could not emotionally handle that type of position. Podiatry is also an area I could not see myself working. The reason behind this is pretty silly, but here goes, I very much dislike other peoples feet especially if they are not well kept. I know in the medical field you will encounter feet on a daily basis, but I could not mainly work with feet on an everyday basis. My last specialty is Orthopedics for the reasons I noted above about the “barbaric” nature of the surgeries and treatments for the musculoskeletal system. Its just not for me.

    2. A lot of of what you point out is supprisingly pricsee and that makes me wonder why I had not looked at this in this light previously. This article really did switch the light on for me personally as far as this particular subject matter goes. Nevertheless at this time there is just one position I am not really too comfy with so whilst I attempt to reconcile that with the actual main idea of the point, let me see what the rest of the readers have to say.Well done.

  2. Arlene – did you shoot these excellent vids? This presentation is POWERFUL. I love it when he said “the sleeping Giant has awoke.” Isn’t that the truth. Just plain excellent and moving.

I took took the videos for 1st 10 minutes & handed the video camera to hubby while I stood in line to ask a question to the congressman. I didn’t get a chance to ask my question, as the congressman ran out the clock with long winded responses.

I uploaded this video in standard quality thru dailymotion. The fuller clip of this dialogue is uploaded thru youtube. I could had uploaded it in HD, but the file would had been much larger.

So I’m still experimenting w/this video camera.

  3. The movement is ALIVE, it goes to show you how the fat cat politicians on both sides of the isle are oblivious to both the vets, and the people they server. They have been allowed to act this way and carry on, due to our inaction in the past. A new wave of politics is on the horizon and we the people are shaping the end result. Well done Arlene

Thanks 🙂 If this Obamacare bill goes thru, it would be a definite death sentence to veterans. All the government needs is a clear shot or bigger opportunity.

Considering the VA “death book” is still in circulation & the liberals are trying to go nuclear on forcing government-run health care down our throats, there could very well be a “give me liberty or death” moment.

“Jolly Red Giant”!! LMAO….that vet is right on!!!!

As to the Give me Liberty or Give me Death? I think that the “Jolly Red Giant” aka ObamaNation has been very transparent about what they want and liberty has nothing to do with it. :-/

  6. Sometimes I tear up when I see pure genuine passion from brave citizens like this. Just to know that I am not alone, and that this Administration is against this country. It makes me cry. But I stand resolute that their Fascist-methods will be defeated. No one should tell another person “how valuable” his/her life is according to the State’s mandate on how much an “asset” that person is to the “collective”. The Collective is just code-speak (happy tappy Marxist-Socialist bull) for RULERS over the oppressed (ie. The Collective).

    1. that we should ‘forgive and forget’. Even if this were actually possible, we are certainly not required to even attempt anything like it if they are unrepentent and likely to offend again on the same serious way. We are entitled to say – within ourselves – something like: whilst I have handed calling you to account over to God, and whilst I pray that you will see the light, understand what you have done and repent, and apologise – so that we can safely be reconciled, I now know you and what you are like, and I choose to guard my heart and the hearts of those under my protection, and (for the time being anyway) to love you in absence.By doing this, as well as protecting ourselves (we are not called to continually ‘cast our pearls in front of swine’) and giving ourselves time and space for our own healing, we give those who have done us wrong the chance to experience that we no longer seek their company, but at the same do not carry any resentment towards them. If it is God’s will that we should be reconciled to them and resume an active friendship, then this course of action can have a powerfully positive challenging effect. If it does not, then it is better that we let them go and enable God to give us something/someone else instead. We hope you find this reply of help.God bless and guide you.

  7. Our veterans have earned the right to be seated in the front row of every town hall across this nation! Our veterans have fought long and hard to protect our country from this kind of evil!

    Great job Arlene!

This congressman didn’t even give recognition to any of the veterans who spoke at this townhall meeting.

After the meeting I went on the internet to search for pictures of him to see if he wore a flag pin.

    2. The first one can’t be correct. It doesn’t add up to 16 Trillion, which is what we owe aegtoethlr. Hard to demonize the opposition with such a glaring mathematical error. Even a democrat can see this can’t be correct.

  8. I love it! These DEMs are real whimps. ““If you dont read it Vote NO”. LMAO
Do they ever read anything? The legislative process needs to be managed much better than dropping 1000-1200 pages of bills in people’s laps. Looks to me like they should break down the volume to smaller pieces – why pile everything into one bill?

I’m sure they could have passed MANY improvements for the present health care system – like regulating awards and punitive damages, malpractice insurance costs and how lawyers get paid.

Obama’s Gallup poll is now only 50% favorable. I don’t think Americans like socialism as much as he does.

I was really impressed at the amount of folks at this townhall who read more of the bill than their legislatures. A lot of the folks also had pocket size U.S. Constitutions in their hand or pocket.

Majority of the folks at this townhall were at least 40 yrs. old. At least half looked over 60. And they were very well informed.

Infinity Downline gives beisnuss proprietors with an exciting money making home beisnuss program which generates them $25 and $125 each month from each signup referral. This can grow a mass amount of money each month. Infinity Downline is a make money system if someone were looking for a money platform to grow their beisnuss on autopilot. With the option of signing up to a coop that grows your downline for you, it is simple to see why Infinity Downline is actually a autopilot income system causing it the best home beisnuss opportunity on the internet.

    1. I had a rather hard time choosing just one type of physician I would want to work for. So many of them fascinate me, and with me not really going into any medical field other than support, I never gave this any thought in the past. After reading the list, I am more favorable of working for a neonatologist. It is difficult to think about how neonatologist physicians sometimes have the most difficult job in the world, but I can only imagine how amazing it would be to be a part of saving a baby’s life. I had a coworker once whose baby was born at 36 weeks, and her baby had a lot of heart and lung problems. There were concerns about whether or not they would ever fully develop once she had him, but after many months in the NICU, and many scares that happened during it, the doctors were able to save him and he is now a very healthy 5 year old. It is because of that I have a higher interest in the neonatologist field.I hate to say which type of physician I would care less to work for, and it is because I worry that many will take it the wrong way. When I was 16, I used to help my mom at an assisted living home as a caregiver. We would get to work at 7:00 A.M. every morning to prepare breakfast for four of the elderly men and women that we were caring for. We would then make sure that all bedding was changed, rooms were cleaned, meals were prepared, and appointments were handled. We worked 12 hour days, and they were always grueling. The owner of the home made sure that everyone had their medicine and made it to their doctor appointments on time. However, she was more worried about getting paid for her services than actually helping the elderly. She would yell at them if they did something wrong, and even call them terrible names. My mom reported her and we both quit our job, but it has always left a sting in my heart since then. It is because of my experience with that situation that I do not think I could ever work for a gerontologist. I know that the situations would be much different, but ever since my experience with caring for elderly individuals it is very hard for me to think about assisting a physician in geriatrics because I worry that someone else might treat the elderly in the same way the owner of the home did. I am a firm believer that the elderly deserve the ultimate care and comfort when going through any treatment and aging in general, but I do not think I could ever work in that environment again.
