Deputy of Hughes County Oklahoma Sheriff Dept denies that sheriff dept not responding to crime calls

Nolen Grizzle, a deputy for Hughes County Sheriff Dept.  rebuked remarks of  Kenny Snyder who is a candidate for sheriff to replace Grizzle’s boss.    Snyder  had blasted the sheriff department for its slow response time to calls; and that at times the sheriff department would not show up at residents homes when called.

Grizzle is also running for sheriff as the the current sheriff in office  is retiring.  So he shows up at a candidate forum in Calvin,  OK to give his presentation to the voters.    I had seen him before and thought he would be a suitable candidate, but I had never seen the other candidates; nor had I heard Grizzle speak at public events on law enforcement prior to this event.   At the forum he displayed somewhat of a text book over view of law enforcement work as he tried to outline his work history as  a security guard &  private contract prison guard where he said he learned some things about inmates &  as a police officer for a few years. He also disclosed what he had learned from a movie he watched in a class.  Throughout Grizzle’s entire presentation, he failed to point out anything that needed improving within the Sheriff department where he presently works.  Grizzle had the least qualifications in comparison to the other 3 candidates at the candidate forum.

Grizzle introduced himself to the voters in attendance at the Calvin Oklahoma political forum, as a Hughes County deputy sheriff and that he had been working there since June 2011.

The other 2012 candidates for Hughes County sheriff were: Kenny Snyder, Todd Hignite and Doug Sipes. According to the Oklahoma Sheriff association website, all candidates running for Hughes county sheriff are democrats. One of these 4 men will be the new sheriff of Hughes County, as the current sheriff – Houston Yeager is retiring.

At this political candidate speaking forum, there was an estimated attendance of little over a hundred people. It appeared to be standing room only.

This political candidate speaking event which was held on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 was located at Calvin Senior Citizen Center (Calvin Nutrition Center) in Calvin, Oklahoma.

The primary election is June 26, 2012. Run off is August 28, 2012. General election is November 6, 2012.

Sheriff Dept refused to respond to crime calls prompts Kenny Snyder run for Co. Sheriff – Hughes County Oklahoma

Kenny Snyder said he’s running for Hughes County sheriff (Oklahoma) mainly because the sheriff dept has refused to respond when called out on criminal complaints. There has been reports that some county residents have called this sheriff department on criminal complaints, but that the deputies do not show up. Synder said that he has reported this when he was working for the city, but that he was told that Hughes County Sheriff department only responds to emergencies.

Moments earlier prior to my interviewing Snyder after a campaign forum held in Calvin, Kenny Snyder publicly outed the criminal response time failures of the sheriff department. At that forum 2 Hughes county deputy sheriffs (Doug Sipes & Nolen Grizzle) took swipes at Snyder as they both defended their sheriff department as being good responders to all criminal complaints. Out of the 4 candidates running for Hughes county sheriff, Sipes and Grizzle are the only ones who are currently employed by Hughes County Sheriff department.

The names of all candidates for Hughes County sheriff are: Kenny Snyder, Todd Hignite, Nolen Grizzle and Doug Sipes. The current sheriff of Hughes County is Houston Yeager, who is retiring.

Sheriff candidate Kenny Snyder Blasts Hughes Co. sheriff dept for SLOW to NO RESPONSE time

Kenny Snyder, candidate for County Sheriff blasted Hughes County sheriff dept in Oklahoma for its slow to no response to police calls. This was actually the high points of his presentation at this candidates forum held in Calvin, Oklahoma on June 12, 2012. What further highlighted this was that the 2 sheriff deputies (Doug Sipes & Nolen Grizzle) present at this forum, took swipes at him as they defended the sheriff department as being good responders to police calls.

Snyder also addressed a laundry list of problems that needed to be tackled by the sheriff department – such as thievery and drug problems in Hughes county; & he seemed to have a grass root understanding of the drug traffic & users from a law enforcement perspective in dealing with these matters. He added that the county jail desperately needed to be disinfected.

He did give presentation to the voters in attendance at this forum detailing his law enforcement, military & educational background that qualifies him for the job as county sheriff.
